An approach based on expert knowledge and experience

Jimmy Cornell behind the Exploration concept
In 2012, renowned adventurer Jimmy Cornell planned to sail the Northwest Passage and sought to have the ideal sailboat built for the journey, with very specific requirements. He then met with the Garcia shipyard, recently acquired by the Grand Large Yachting group. Their discussions led to the creation of an extraordinary boat, theExploration 45, which was followed a few years later by larger models in the range.
yachts designed by blue water cruising experts
The engineers and technicians at Garcia Yachts collaborate with blue water cruising experts such as Jimmy Cornell, as well as Pete Goss, who joined the family with the purchase of an Exploration 45 in 2017 and has remained a loyal consultant and ambassador for the company ever since. Garcia also collaborates with the best internationally renowned French architects and designers, such as Olivier and Isabelle Racoupeau for its monohulls or Pierre Delion and Franck Darnet for its catamaran.
the choice of aluminium and centerboarder

ACCESS THE LAGOONS,
SHALLOW WATERS AND BEACHES
Beyond the freedom this offers, it’s also a key safety feature and a maintenance advantage. Even the most adventurous can venture into poorly mapped areas. It’s also the reassuring possibility of accessing sheltered areas.
ROAD STABILITY
AT DOWNWIND SPEEDS
If a centerboarder Garcia Yachts meets the same stability requirements as a keelboat, it offers much smoother movement, due to the virtual absence of roll, particularly downwind, even in rough seas. Maneuvering and life on board are all the more fluid and comfortable. In very bad weather, raising the centerboard avoids the tripping effect of a keel. The boat can thus skid sideways and, for ultimate safety, remain maneuverable, even in breaking waves.
ROBUST
and DURABILITY
Perfectly suited to blue water cruising, aluminium ‘s strength and sturdiness allow you to venture wherever inspiration leads. Durable and repairable, aluminium can be deformed by impact without tearing. In the most isolated places, in the face of the harshest conditions, you and your crew will always feel safe aboard a Garcia.

SAFE NAVIGATION, A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO RISK MANAGEMENT
Garcia Yachts masters risks “by design”: from the conception of the vessel to support in the implementation of your program, risks are identified and their consequences limited. Our owners and their families entrust us with their dreams and aspirations. We take care of each one with the same rigor.
Structure,
equipment and systems
The very structure of our aluminium sailboats is a strong element of safety. The centerboarder’s gentle behaviour in heavy seas protects the crew. In the event of rough conditions at the coast, it also enables you to reach more sheltered, shallower areas. Sacrificial zone rudders, protective skegs, watertight door, double glazing, rigid hatch, redundancy in the steering system thanks to twin rudders… All essential safety features for total safety.
designed for autonomy
and independence

On-board autonomy
All Garcias have large fuel and water capacities. Storage spaces, both inside and out, are voluminous and provide ample carrying capacity.
Depending on your requirements, you can equip your boat with various means of energy production. As the boat is insulated, it saves on heating. This means you can reach even the most remote areas for long stays, in complete autonomy.
Easy maintenance
Every part of the boat is accessible on a Garcia: every hull, every tank inlet and outlet, every piece of equipment, every system… We want you to be able to service and maintain your boat in a Patagonian canal or a Svalbard bay, far from any technical base.
